The
restoration of the Moody mansion in Galveston, Texas is another wonderful find.
It is such a treasure for the Galveston community. I for one, am happy to see
it still stands. For those that do not know the history behind the Moody
mansion I have attached an article that includes pictures of the restoration and another about the history of the Moody
family. I was surprised that the structure saw minimal damage from the
hurricane of 1900.
Restoration Miracles
As
I said in my last post I love to see older structures restored to their former
glory. In the spirit of that I wanted to share some links to pages that I feel
are must see for restoration lovers like me. I cannot express how depressing it
is to see these beautiful buildings so run down. The saddest thing about it is
that if these buildings were well maintained to begin with there would be no
reason for a costly restoration such as these. Perhaps with new innovations one
will find a low cost maintenance option so these grand structures will get the
care they so desperately need.

A little about this blog...and me.
My
chosen topic to blog about is architecture. It is amazing what can be done with
building materials, what’s even more amazing  is how some buildings can
stay intact for any number of years while others crumble after only a few.
Historic sites are probably my favorites so you will probably find more
historic buildings rather than contemporary sites. I like contemporary too but
I feel that classic architecture versus contemporary is just timeless. I love
seeing older buildings being restored to their former glory. Just magical.
